  1. 50 years before the mast Your little boat The marriage boat Has slid through locks Needs proper valence Well on its way It cannot sway To distant docks It must have balance The wind so strong To cross the seas The sea so vast Calls for devotion It seems so little And for some knowledge Time has passed Of the ocean It must be said You’ve swabbed the deck You’ve had wide berth And hoisted sails To see all corners Through wind and storm Of this great earth --Infrequent gales. From time to time The marriage boat You’ve had to tack You’ve filled with joy If not on the way there Here’s to you both Then on the way back Ahoy! Ahoy!
