  2. Abhor • hate • loath • I just abhor the way people leave their trash at the picnic sites in the park.

  3. Hamper • to slow the movement, progress, or action of (someone or something) • hinder; obstruct • I tried to walk to school, but I was late, the snow hampered me.

  4. Noxious • harmful; poisonous; lethal • Mixing bleach and ammonia can cause noxious fumes that can seriously harm you.

  5. Abrasive • rough; coarse; harsh • The waves had an abrasive action on the rocks.

  6. Bilk • to cheat or trick (a person or organization) especially by taking money. • Their was a bully in kindergarten who always tried to bilk the other kids out of money.

  7. Nuance • a very small difference in color, tone, meaning, etc. • a subtle quality • He listened to the subtle nuances in the song.

  8. Renown • fame • The 20 year old had gained renown from his youtube channel.

  9. Tangent • going off the main subject • In the middle of her description of her dog's symptoms, she went off on a tangent about its cute behavior

  10. Tardy • slow in moving, acting, or happening • late • She does not have an alarm so ends up being tardy to school all of the time!

  11. Hasten • to move or act quickly • We must hasten our pace if we want to everything done before class is over.
