1. Investigation 3.1 Bits and Pieces I
2. Overview Section 3 has us start to look at decimals. To do this we start with fractions that we have used and move them into decimals.
3. Letter A starts us off and has us label , 2/4, , 4/4 on a number line.
4. Letter B asks us which of the fractions could easily be shown on a tenths grid, or a tenths fraction strip.
5. Letter C has us continue this process of writing equivalent fractions and then converting those fractions into decimals.
6. In Letter D Lin is going to share her 10 inch by 10 inch fruit bar (marked in 100 square inch sections) with her friends.
7. Now, who got more of the fruit bar, and how much is left for Lin?
8. Review We can convert fractions to decimals by creating equivalent fractions with 10, 100, 1000, in the denominator. We can show decimals on tenths, hundredths, thousandths grids just like fractions.
