Wilma Rudolph was born on June 23, 1940 in Clarksville, Tennessee At three years old Wilma had double pneumonia, measles, mumps, chicken pox and polio Wilma was 20th of 22 children All of her older siblings had to help a lot when sick or anytime when she was walking around the house Early life/Family Life

  3. Wilma was home-schooled most of the time She attended an all black school at age 7 in Clarksville, Tennessee When Wilma was older, she attended the Tennessee State College Wilma trained very hard in track and basketball Education

  4. Childhood heath issues including premature birth and polio polio damaged her left leg Wilma had to go to the physical therapist three times a week When Wilma was eight she finally learned how to walk She overcame all of those obstacles by working hard Problems and obstacles

  5. Wilma is famous because she was the first African American woman to win the three gold medals in the Olympics Wilma ran 100 meters in 11 seconds She also ran 200 meters in 24 seconds Wilma also accomplished learning how to walk Accomplishments

  6. Wilma had a baby, Yvonne at 18 Wilma nearly died with all her sicknesses and diseases Wilma died at age 57 from brain cancer Interesting facts
