  2. Life • She was born on June 23, 1940.

  3. School She went to Burt High School.

  4. Wilma Rudolph was the first African American woman to run track in the Olympic games.

  5. At early age she survived polio and scarlet fever only to be left with the use of one leg.

  6. In1957, Rudolph went to Tennessee State University and trained for the Olympic games in Rome.

  7. She was also the founder of the Wilma Rudolph foundation.

  8. In 1994 Wilma died at her home in Tennessee of a brain tumor.
