  4. Characteristics • Diet: Herbivore • Size: 4 to 6ft tall & 900 to 2300 kg • Housing requirements: Swamps and muddy places • Climate requirements: A little rain, not to hot muddy, water everywhere.

  8. Why endangered? • Poaching, natural catastrophes, and diseases • Date listed as endangered: October 2011

Efforts • WWF and its partners are working on the development of a program to translocate rhinos from Ujung Kulon National Park to establish a new population Indonesia. • Conservationists are working hard to expand the Javan rhino’s habitat. The International Rhino Foundation is working with its local partner, the Rhino Foundation of Indonesia (YABI), and the national park administration to extend the protected status of these Javan Rhino’s. • International conservation organizations such as WWF and the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) are working together with the Vietnamese and Indonesian governments to protect remaining Javan rhinos. • Some efforts are working but it still hard to get them to really work at there full potential.
