  2. New Servers • Red Hat Linux replaces Solaris Unix • 32 CPUs vs. 4 CPU • 48GB RAM vs. 32GB • Virtualized Vmware • Backups • Currently 2 ½ hours of “Maintenance mode” • New method: 15 minutes

  3. Migration Overview 1. Migration of Data • Database copied • III scheduled overnight • Production & Report servers done simultaneously 2. Rebuild Keyword Index • 1.5 million bibs • Unique to this migration • Index affects searching in staff client & WebPAC • Reindexing will begin after migration • G0-live! But Reindex continues, search results will inconsistent for 12 hrs

Migration Questions • If JAR downloads, why new client? • Network impact, server performance • Local library workstations download update • Security: file permissions, Centurion, Deep Freeze, etc. can cause download to occur repeatedly • What does building new keyword index mean? • Staff and WebPAC searches will be inaccurate as the index builds • Library circulation OK

  10. ILS Committee Survey • Sent out Feb 6th • Section for Administrators/Directors • Purpose • Help the Committee narrow selection • Scalability, tiered services, deal breakers, suggestions

  11. ILS Committee • Next steps: • Create matrix of data, features • Use survey to help narrow the choices • Determine need for RFI, possible RFP, pilot projects • Questions?

Reporter & Decision Center • Step 1: SWAN investigation completed • IUG pre-conference attended in April 2012 • SWAN data cleanup prep May – Sept 2012 • More demos, questions, follow up • Goal: Make recommendation to membership • Step 2: SWAN Membership approval • Demo at Sept 2012 Quarterly • Approved funds for subscription Sept 2012

Reporter & Decision Center • Step 3: Implementation • Decision Center beta: split roll-out • Reporter configuration: hosted in CA by III • “Seeding” began in Dec 2012, paused X-Mas • Issues encountered when restarted in Jan 2013 • Production server high load averages • Further delay until new SWAN servers in March

III answers • Option 1: move forward with Reporter v2.2 after new servers, wait on Decision Center • Option 2: Reporter v2.3 & Decision Center after R2011 upgrade • Other options: will be explored • R2011 upgrade not set, prior to this news Q3 2013 was target for upgrade
