  1. Membership and Dues Update

  2. Membership Fees Update To review and consider changes to our membership fee structure Current fee structure does not follow the 4-way test. not well publicized that some members opted out of paying for meals No official procedure in place; ad hoc An inequity existed -- non-meal members incurred no fine for failure to make up a missed meeting. All other members did incur such a fine

  3. BLUF: Very Little Change As of 1 April 09, membership fees will include the cost of meals Members who miss a meeting but who have a valid make-up will not be charged for the meal Members who miss a meeting without a valid make-up will be fined $11.00 There will not be a “no-meal” option.

  4. Discussion Review; Assumptions We will continue to include a lunch meal as an integral part of meetings SVRC will continue to meet at PDS SVRC will conduct about 42 meetings per year Membership fees will remain the same The cost of the meal will remain at $11

  5. Discussion Review; Dues Club Dues: $100/year; applied to service projects and charitable giving Quarterly Assessment: $52/year; applied to club operating expenses, and district and RI dues Meal costs: Members pay $11.00 for meals under these conditions: When they attend a meeting When they miss a meeting and fail to make up at another club (other than an e-club)

  6. Discussion Review; Fee Options Option 1: Fees include meal cost All members on an equal footing regarding Membership Fees. It eliminates the inequity in fees associated with the current procedure. Eliminates the non-meal member option. Everyone who fails to make up a missed meeting will incur the fine.  This is the simpler option from a billing and accounting perspective.

  7. Discussion Review; Fee Options Option 2: Fees exclude meal costs (meal costs optional) Members could chose or not chose to eat and pay for meals We currently have approx 65 people who attend and eat. Any fewer and we risk not being able to hold the meeting at PDS Considered fining the same for those that miss a meeting. Complex option from a management perspective.

  8. Board Review & Decisions 9 Feb 09 Decided to continue with Option #1: membership fees include meal costs Non-meal member option was considered but not supported Discussed and voted to continue with make-ups and fines as before Discussed and voted to support exceptions to meal charges Limited Case by Case; dire economic reasons Justification must be submitted and approved by BOD for a limited period

  9. Board Discussion; Membership Total Members as of Jan 09: ~95 5 are honorary members 16 members with attendance below 25% over the past 6 months BOD’s desire is to personally encourage those that wish to remain contributing Rotarians to improve attendance at meetings and activities
