  1. Inclusive & ActiveA Sport & Physical Activity Action Plan for Disabled People in London

  2. What is Inclusive and Active? A clear and concise action plan of how we can jointly increase the participation levels of Disabled People in London. The plan was jointly created by Sport England London Region, London Sports Forum for Disabled People & Greater London Authority Supported by: London Councils, YST, BPA & UK Sport.

  3. Why does it exist? • Low levels of participation among disabled people (16+) • Accessible provision is inconsistent across London and sports • Positive examples of inclusive facilities, programmes, clubs & other organisations exist but uncoordinated and unconnected.

  4. What do we want to achieve? • Vision for 2013: “More active disabled Londoners, achieving their full sporting potential”. • Key outcomes: • More disabled people in London participating regularly in sport and physical activity • More disabled people in London achieving sporting success in competitions at every level (local, sub-regional, regional, national and international).

  5. What does it contain? • Six themes with clear targeted actions within each: • Changing the culture; • Being inclusive; • Getting people active; • Creating sporting pathways; • Developing people; • Taking the lead and being accountable.

  6. Commitment is Key We are asking each agency/partner to commit to the following...

  7. Commitment is Key 1. Include Within Your Own Delivery And Action Plans And Future Work Programmes Specific Inclusive And Active Actions

  8. Commitment is Key 2. Include Disability Impact Assessments As Standard In Every Review, Initiative, Programme or Project Undertaken, Supported or Funded By Your Organisation.

  9. Commitment is Key 3. Set Specific Inclusive And Active Targets For Your Organisation, For The Partnerships That You Are Engaged In And Measure Performance Against Them On At Least An Annual Basis.

  10. What will success look like? • Increase in the percentage of disabled people participating 3 x 30 minutes, with a target of 14% by 2012. • Disabled young people will have the same opportunity to access the five hour offer. • 10% of athletes in the 2012 Paralympic squad are disabledLondoners.
