  2. Finding Essential Questions • Build background knowledge • List wonderings • Tease out deeper wonderings • Synthesize wonderings

  3. Finding Resources • Review a sample of “expert” suggestions • online and books • Begin with a list of possible resources • Make a list of key words/phrases to use in scanning resources

  4. Taking Notes • Keep a numbered citation list • Take notes on post its, numbering by citations

  5. Synthesizing Notes • Sort with “Fluff and Stuff” • Use a citation template

  6. Sharing Research • Report key learning • Optional—Tell one interesting idea learned not related to the essential question • List new wonderings
