  2. Background • Offer by the International Association of Transportation Regulators (IATR) • Share information and newsletters • Exchange two representatives at each annual meeting • Research areas of mutual concern • Non-airport fees

Survey Facts • Sample Size = 135 • Respondents = 32 • Response Rate = 23.70% • The purpose of this survey was to update information on the issue of local payments to hotels, sporting events, convention centers, and other venues by our operating members AGTA Airport Landside Management Study 2005

  4. Participants Total of 32 AGTA Operator Members • 15 Shared Ride Van Operators (47 %) • 8 Taxi Operators (25 %) • 5 Bus Operators (16 %) • 4 Limousine Operators (12%)

  5. What Percent of Operators Pay Fees?

  6. Shared Ride Van Operators • Total of 15 respondents • NO fees for Sporting Events or Convention Center • Only 3 paid hotel fees and 1 paid other fees:

  8. TAXI OPERATORS • Total of 8 respondents • NO fees for Sporting Events • 1 Operator pays Convention Center fee • NO FEES for hotel pick up (as a company)

  11. BUS OPERATORS • Total of 5 respondents • NO fees for Sporting Events or Convention Center • 1 Operator pays $9 Ground Transportation Tax per ticket on Intrastate moves • Only 2 paid Hotel fees of 10%

  12. LIMOUSINE OPERATORS • Total of 4 respondents • NO fees for Sporting Events or Convention Center • Only 1 of them paid Hotel fees

  13. Conclusions from Survey • Non-airport fees by airport oriented ground transportation operators are not a matter of serious concern at this time • Exception appears to be State of California • Fees ranging as high as 50% of ticket price can be found • Fees in range of 30% of passenger ticket are common • Problems appear to be with individual drivers and illegal gratuities (now referred to as “Bellmen Stimulus Packages”)
