RACINES ITALIENNES • François I alla faire la guerre en Italie, qui était en pleine Renaissance depuis un siècle. • Ebloui (et peut-être fut-il un peu jaloux de ce qu’il y voyait), François attira en France les artistes italiens les plus illustres: Leonard da Vinci et Benvenuto Cellini. Le roi devint le protecteur des savants, des écrivains, et des artistes.

Comment l’Art est-il diffèrent? • Le contenu changea: c’était l’époque de l’humanisme, donc, l’homme était au centre de tout. • Au lieu de personnages religieux, comme les saints et la Vierge Marie, on représenta la beauté de la forme humaine. • En architecture, on passa des cathédrales aux châteaux de plaisir!
