  1. Course Selection for HKU Undergraduates Course Selection Computer Centre 2002

Compulsory Course • Course MUST be taken according to your curriculum requirements • First Time to start up the form, preloaded in your course selection form • Blue “+” sign beside the course code (NOT saved yet, i.e. NOT belongs to your enrollment unless you pressed “Save”) • “-” under the “Sem” (Semester) and “Sub” (Subclass) column = NO pre-assigned semester and subclass • You MUST choose the semester and subclass • Remember to SAVE before leave Next >>

  3. Click to View Course Information No Semester & Subclass assigned yet Blue “+” sign appears next to course code

  4. Click to change semester and subclass Course Information Display Here

  5. Corresponding semester and subclass are transferred to the form

  6. Press “Save” to submit your changes

  7. Save Successfully

  8. 1. No more “+” sign 2. Check the remark for each course Click the “Optional Courses” to display the Optional Course List of your curriculum 3. Check the Overall Remark

  9. Scroll and click the course code you are interested in to view subclass available and corresponding timetable Optional Course List displays here

  10. Information transferred to the top right corner, choose the subclass you want by clicking the link

  11. This course will be added to your course list with a blue ‘+’ sign next to the course code “AMER1002” Course Taken and Total Credits Unit is updated

  12. You can click to view your personal timetable of your current selected courses

  13. Check for Time Clash of your selected courses If time clash exists, modify your selected course list.

Modify the New Added Course • New added course before save • A blue “+” sign in front of the course code • You can: • Change the Semester and Subclass • A blue “+” sign remains in front of the course code • Drop the added course • The course will remove immediately from the course list before you save Next >> Course Selection Computer Centre 2002

  15. Do not click here to change subclass You should click the course code from your selected course list for modification Do not click the course in the optional course list for modification If you want to modify the course in your course list, you should click the link in this box

  16. Click to drop the course Click to change subclass e.g. change from 2G to 2E The course information will transferred to the top right corner. Now you can see the “Click to Change Course” instead of “Click to Add Course”

  17. Click the “Drop” button to remove the course from your course list The subclass is updated immediately in your selected course list But if you want to change the subclass for a disapproved course, you should drop the course first

  18. The course will be removed from your course list immediately “Course Taken” and “Total Credit Units” are updated as well Press “Save” when course list is confirmed If mistakes is made, you can undo all changes made after last “Save” action

  19. After saving, you can click the “Report” button to view and print your temporary course selection report

  20. Modify the Saved Course List • Saved Course List • No any sign next to the course code • You can: • Add new course • Change the Semester and Subclass • Drop the selected course Next >> Course Selection Computer Centre 2002

  21. Like the procedures stated in previous slides, click the course code in your selected course list e.g. ECEN1901

  22. Click the “Drop” button to delete this course Course Information transformed to the top right corner

  23. 1 2 3 1. A red ‘-’ sign display next to the dropped course code Effect shows in your selected course list immediately 2. The status changes from “TW” to “DR” 3. “Courses Taken” changes from 7 to 6 “Total Credit Units” changes from 30 to 27

  24. Again, information passed to the top right corner Click “BUSI1006” to change subclass E.g. If you want to change the subclass from 2H to 2G, click “2G”

  25. 1. A green “#” sign displayed next to the course code ‘BUSI1006’ 1 2 2. New selected subclass is reflected in your course list immediately Remember to save your changes

  26. Notice: Status may change after Suspension Period Again, you can click to view your temporary report Or you can click “Exit” button to leave the course selection system

Approval Status • TS • Waiting for approval from the course offering department • TW • Waiting for approval from your home faculty • TA • Approved to take • TN • Not Approved to take • DR • Drop the course with previous status = TS, TW • Intermediate status during course selection • DA • Drop the Approved course (i.e. previous status = TA) • No priority for you to add back this course with approved status if dropped • Think twice before dropping an approved course Next >>

You can drop the unapproved course from your course list. e.g. AMER1002 (Note: you need to drop the unapproved course and add from the optional course list if you want to try another subclass) Click to drop The information transforms to the top right corner Courses with status “TN” not counted

  29. A red ‘-’ sign next to the dropped course code Courses Taken, Total Credits Unit and Status will remains unchanged

  30. The corresponding information transforms to the top right corner Click to drop this course When you drop an approved course by clicking the course code e.g. COGN1001

  31. 1 2 3 1. A red “-” sign next to the approved course that being dropped 2. The status will change from “TA” to “DA” 3. Course Taken and Total Credit Units have been updated

  32. You can check your dropped courses from the report as well.

Remark • The problem occurs after the course list is saved • Course Remarks and Overall Remarks • At usual, most of the cases are • Pre-requisites not met • Time clash between 2 courses • Total Credits do not meet your faculty’s requirement • Match the explanations in the Report • Resolve the conflicts before finalization • Contact your Faculty if you have problems in resolving the conflicts Next >> Course Selection Computer Centre 2002

Finalized Course Selection Report • Some faculties, such as Arts Faculty, may need you to submit a finalized report • Back to Student Connect Main Menu • Click “Finalize Course Selection” • Check carefully before “Confirmation” • After Finalization, you cannot modify your courses again. • Print and sign before returning to Faculty Next >> Course Selection Computer Centre 2002
