  7. Meet Session Overview • Swimmers should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to warm-ups. • Warm-up times are located in the meet information. If there are changes to the meet, the coaches will receive notice from the host team and forward through e-mail. • A full warm-up at meets is a crucial component to swimming fast.

  8. Meet Session Overview Cont. • Swimmers should sit with their teammates in the team designated area. • We also require swimmers to talk to their respective coach both before and after their race (but only after they warm down). • Not all Coaches attend every meet, but at least one MSS Coach will attend each session of the meets on our meet schedule.

  9. Parents Role at Meets • Parents attendance shows support to your swimmer. • Don’t coach, analyze, or criticize the swim. Leave that to the Coaches. • Enjoy spending time with your swimmer, support them, and celebrate their achievements.

  10. Length of a Meet • Each meet can range from a single day meet to multiple days. • Each session with warm ups included will last anywhere from 3-5 hours. • Prelim/Final Sessions consist of two sessions usually swam on the same day. The swimmer could swim the same event twice if they earn a spot in the Finals session.

  11. General Information • At meets you swim against your own age (not by training group). Most of the time the groups will be 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, and 13 and over. • You will know when they swim their event by following the heat sheet or program guide purchased at the meet. • Races start with a horn and strobe light. No flash photography once the swimmer is on the blocks.
