  2. Location Anchorage offers a wide range of activities in all seasons.  In early summer it's possible to catch a 40-60 pound king salmon in Ship Creek right downtown.  In winter, residents can cross country ski along well-groomed trails or downhill ski in south Anchorage.

  13. The Sullivan Arena is home to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL and the Alaska Anchorage Seawolves of the NCAAdivision I. The city's only other professional franchise is the Alaska Wild, an arena football team that began playing with the Intense Football League in April 2007. A third professional franchise scheduled to begin play in November 2008 is the Alaska Dream, a basketball team in the ABA.

  14. Ninety percent of Anchorage's adults have high-school diplomas, 65 percent have attended one to three years of college, and 17 percent hold advanced degrees, placing Anchorage among the top metropolitan cities in educational attainment.
