  1. Have ‘Smart’ New Floors: Stylish, Suitable and Reasonable You want to renovate your house but are confused regarding flooring? …. Don’t Worry. This presentation will help you out in choosing ‘Smart’ floors for your home.

  2. ‘Smart’ Means… There are many features one can look for while deciding on flooring for their home. After much brainstorming, I have reached to only one conclusion---‘Smart’ floor. By ‘Smart’ I mean—Flooring which is stylish, suits your requirements and comes in under your budget. Means you should consider 3 S--- Stylish, Suitable and Sensible. Let’s have a look at these features one by one.

  3. Style - The buzzword Style is different for everybody. To one, wood may be appealing while others may be more interested in stones. Keeping this thing in mind, I have listed some nice floor options with specific features keep reading

  4. Bamboo Floor Pros: Naturalistic appearance Durable, Scratches are less visible Easy to Care for Cons: It is difficult to get good supplier. Sometimes, gaps occur in the floor in case of extreme temperature.

  5. Bruce Floor Pros: • Affordable • Available in different colors, styles and materials like wood • Known for imparting beauty and elegance to rooms

  6. Cons: Bruce flooring is available in hardwood flooring as well as in laminate flooring products. Hardwood flooring should not be exposed to moisture for long. So laminate flooring is sometimes a better choice as it will be easier to take care of.

  7. Hardwood Floor Pros: • It looks just great! • Durable • Available in many styles like oak, cherry, walnut and more • Homes with hardwood floors usually fetch better prices when it comes to selling them.

  8. Cons: Cost may be one consideration for hardwood floors. It needs occasional refurbishing which also adds to this the price. Refinishing may cost between $1.25 to $ 4.00 and more per square foot. Moreover, it is a bit noisy walking over these floors. Though with a rug, noise can be reduced to an extent.

  9. Continued… Laminate Flooring It’s cheaper, durable and Scratch resistant but like hardwood, it doesn’t increase the resale value of a home. Moreover, it can be damaged by water. Stone Flooring It provides a classic look but is quite expensive and a bit slippery. It needs professionals to install it.

  10. Tile Flooring It is less expensive alternative to stone. It imparts elegant look, but can be slippery. Tiles can also crack.  There are many other options available like vinyl tiles, pergo flooring, slate flooring etc.

  11. Are you confused which one to choose among these? You need not to be. Check the suitability factor Not all types are good for all people and places. For instance, • Tiles are more suited to bathrooms compared to bedrooms. • Hardwood may be more suitable for your dining room compared to the kitchen or bedroom. • Carpet flooring gives warmth and comfort but gets stained easily. So, it may not be suitable with kids and animals. • Granite is great for both kitchens and bathrooms.

  12. Budget- The main consideration If you can’t afford any material, there is no sense in selecting it. Your selection will be sensible only if it’s in your budget. So, have a quick look at the approximate flooring estimates: Floor Material Cost Hardwood $ 5 to $ 15 per square foot Laminate $ 1 TO $ 6 per square foot Vinyl sheet $ 1 to $ 5 per square foot Vinyl Tiles $ 1 to $ 4 per square foot Stone tiles $ 7 to $ 20 per square foot Ceramic tiles $ 5 to $ 15 per square foot

  13. Don’t just go by prices! Remember your floor is something that can’t be changed frequently. So, invest while keeping the long term in mind. Don’t compromise much with quality. Cheaper material may incur more cost in repair and maintenance in the long run.
