  2. Approach • Research current methods of automated driving • Perform edge detection on a wide variety of road images • Highway/Street • Busy/Empty • Good Condition/Bad Condition • Comment on which current approaches could use Edge Detection

  3. Automated Steering • Set the steering wheel angle based on picture of road • Learning algorithm • Can edge detection simplify the incoming image?

  4. Bumper to Bumper Stop and Go Driving • Automated driver latches on to the back of the car directly in front of it • Use centerline and width of vehicle outline to estimate distance • Edge detection to find the leading car’s location?

  5. Yet to be accomplished • Apply edge detection algorithm • Decide if edge detection is a viable option to distinguish between the road and surrounding areas • All types of different conditions • Decide if edge detection can find the outline of a car from the rear • All types of vehicles
