Fats • Saturated fats - Excessive consumption is not good because of their association with atherosclerosis and heart diseases. • Unsaturated fats are considered good to eat if you are watching your cholesterol However the presence of trans fat especially in margarine makes it dangerous as trans fat can block arteries easily.

  12. Water • Important for waste removal, temperature regulation, and maintenance of the proper environment for chemical reactions

  13. RDA • Recommended nutrient intakes that meet the needs of most healthy people

  14. Junk Food • Food that provides few nutrients relative to the energy it contains

  15. Healthful snack • Nutrient-dense food choice such as an apple or yogurt

  16. Fiber • Aids digestion and may help prevent cancer and heart disease

  18. Diet • Infants and children need more food energy per pound of body weight than adults.

  19. Vegetarians • Must carefully plan their diets because it is challenging to get all of the essential vitamins and minerals from plant sources alone
