  2. Sacrifice assignment • Write two well-written paragraphs about a personal sacrifice that was made in your family or in the family of someone you know. What was sacrificed? Who benefited from the sacrifice? Do you think the sacrifice was necessary, or could the situation have been resolved differently? What lesson did you learn from this experience? (You will be graded on conventions. )

  3. Background for “the rain came” • Create a sacrifice bubble map • Read about the background and author on page 136. • Study the vocabulary. • Read and complete the handout for “The Rain Came.”

  4. “The Rain Came” • Using the tune of a kid’s song that you know, tell what happened in “The Rain Came.” Use your plot events as a guide. 2. On your paper (one product) include: a. The name of the song that the tune was used b. The title of your song c. The name of each group member 3. Include (You will be graded on the following): a. major characters b. basic plot (spanning the story—at least 10-12 lines in length) c. the conflict d. the surprise ending 4. Twenty points of your grade is presentation. Only one presenter is required.
