  1. The Cold War By: Tyler Brazer 304

  2. What started the cold war? • It was caused by the outcome of the Russian Revolution in 1917 • Also, the US and the Soviet Union became mortal enemies after they were allies in WWII • The Soviet Union was one of the two strongest countries and they were worried about invasion from the west, so they wanted to dominate Eastern Europe • The US thought that later they were going to take over the world, so they opposed it and the Soviet Union thought the US was plotting to destroy them so the war started They are going to destroy us! They’re going to take over the world!

  3. How many counties were in the cold war and were there any allies/teams? • It was mainly between the United States and the Soviet Union • Many other countries got effected by the war, for example: Germany, Afghanistan, Cuba, Mexico, Egypt, Japan, Panama, etc. • Although the US and the USSR were allies in WWII they turned on each other • Also, some of the countries came together as allies but then left due to weakness

  4. Did the amount of people and weapons affect on who won it? • The US and the Soviet Union were trying to build more nuclear weapons than each other through out the war • The US had enough money to keep building them but the Soviet Union was struggling to keep building them • The struggle went on and the Soviet Union destroyed their economy and they used ALL of their money • The US basically won

  5. How did the people that weren’t involved in it feel in the US and Russia? • Both the US and the Soviet Union kept developing more powerful weapons and people from both sides feared what would happen if the war broke around the world • So people started to build bomb shelters and underground bunkers were they could go if nuclear war broke out • In Russia citizens started to protest to have more freedom, as a result they got more freedom and instead of a single party communist system they changed the government to a democracy

  6. What the Cold War Means to me People have different opinions about the cold war. I liked this topic because I thought it was interesting that the US and the Soviet Union, all through the war were threatening to break out into nuclear war but, they didn’t. They were using so much money to make bombs and weapons that the other people were taking all of their energy to build bomb shelters. Also I liked it because each time one person threatened or said something, the other people were trying to make more weapons and bomb shelters. It seemed that each time, the others were trying to out do each other. I can connect the economy and the government to each other because the government controls the army and the people. Each of the countries that were in the war used all of their own money, which lead to them using their economy’s money. So, they started to take a ton of money out of their economy that lead to them basically destroying their economy because they used the money to keep building more and more weapons.
