Sustainable Construction • Green Building” is the practice of increasing the efficiency of buildings and their use of energy, water, and materials, and reducing building impacts on human health and the environment through better design, construction, operation, maintenance, and removal. • The complete building life cycle!

  7. Green Building The philosophy of green building practices is to design a building is in harmony with the natural features and resources surrounding the site. Practitioners of green building often seek to achieve not only ecological but aesthetic harmony between a structure and its surrounding natural and built environment.

  8. Our Vision To become a centerpiece of research, application and trends, as related to the construction profession and industry. A demonstration house permits the engagement of the community and industry on multiple projects and topics relating to structures and life in Northwest Florida. The economic implications of sustainable, durable housing and resources continue to dominate the dialogue about the quality of life in our region. Through this initiative, UWF and supporting partners become the leaders in this discussion, facilitating a wide-ranging set of opportunities that focus on improving the community, construction-related industries, and general life in the region. Overall, the home will provide educational opportunities in areas of energy efficiency, windstorm mitigation, sustainable and green building and lastly, quality construction techniques and materials.
