  3. Holden’s youth • Immature • Fake • Attention issues • Curious • Needy • Acts young for his age

  4. Holden’s maturity • Wants to learn about sex • Alone • Dinking/ smoking • Prostitute • Dates

  5. Motif or symbol • Symbol: the red hat - describes an understanding of hunting into being a child into an adult - gives it to Pheobe • Symbol: baseball glove - reminds Holden of Allie

  6. Holden’s transformation • F-u written on school wall • Upset little kids see it • Thinks their to young • Tries to scratch it off

  7. Teens loss of innocence • Teens developed a new meaning to their own generation • teens got in trouble for the language used in the lyrics “devil music” • With their demands they got new cloths, music, and new attitudes
