…until I lived in Russia I thought there were two types of Russians those who lived on the European plain, and those who lived in Asia. Now I know that that is completely wrong, Russia is made up of many different ethnic groups. One just needs to look at a school to see diversity, in Cheboksary Russians, Chuvash and Tatars all study together...
…in Russia, family is a big thing to say the least. They absorb you like a sponge, a sponge with warm opening arms…
…the living style of Russians is different also. They live in apartments, and the main place of talking and meeting and family matters, takes place in the kitchen… It is a place which is never empty or quiet. We talk there, laugh, eat, drink tea, watch TV, argue, and many other things. It's a comfort to me to be in my kitchen in Russia, to be able to say what I want and need. I can let all of my troubles or worries go in the kitchen. Itisjustanamazingplace.
…foodin Russia is wonderful. I cannot say it enough. I have never eaten so much in my entire life. A common phrase here is "would you like some more?", and of course, you cannot say no. There are so many national dishes and specialties in Russia. It, in my mind, is like having thanksgiving every single day. Most things are home-made and home-seasoned, or even, home-grown. …schoolis the largest difference in Russia when compared to America. First off, there are a lot more in Russia. Every street has a school on it. The Russian teaching fashion is also extremely and highly different. They have a more memorization approach. They are more formal here. They have a uniform, stricter rules, and a more organized school schedule. Overall, there are many differences, and many similarities, and I welcome both and compare them to my schools in America…
…then came the language difference. It was a very large shock to hear a language which previously I had thought, 'How can people speak this language, it's so hard!’ It was like to hearing Chinese, but Russian. I didn't understand one word of what was coming out of these peoples' mouths. As time flew by, that definitely changed…
…now, I see the world different and through clear open eyes. I see that every single country and culture on this earth has its own way of living. Those ways of living have differences. Every culture and people are different from one-another. Whether it is food, school, language, dress, attitude, religion, skin color, or whatever else anyone can think of, there are always some similarities. The need for understanding and communication are a common bond in everyone, and that should be understood and respected.
