  3. What I Expect • We will be working hard to learn new skills, challenging us to go to another level as a squad and as individuals • We will be working together as a squad to better our skills and build unity • Through evaluations we will learn from our mistakes and compete against other teams for recognition • For you to be the most engaged squad there! That means cheering, smiling, and VERY spirited!

  4. What to Expect • You will be sore • You will be frustrated • You will be tired • You will be hot • You will take care of yourself • You will be on your VERY best behavior • You will follow the rules • You will be on time • You will be positive, NO COMPLAINING!

  5. What NOT to Expect • Your Coaches and your Roommate to be your Mom – she’s at home • Down/social time - We will be practicing • To get everything perfectly the first time it is taught • To have your cell phone – you will get it for 30 mins. each night • To stay up all night or leave your room after 10pm

  6. Parents: What to Expect • Your daughter will be exhausted, encourage her, cheer her on • Parents are ONLY allowed at evaluations • Updates/Awards will be posted on the BNHS Cheer page • You will be called and expected to come and get your daughter if rules are violated – no matter what time

  7. Parents: What NOT to Expect • This is NOT a summer camp, we will be working • Your daughters will NOT love every minute of camp - but will learn a ton • You will NOT have 24 hour access to your kiddo. You will only speak to your daughter in the evening when they are given their cell phones and at the picnic • If you attend evaluations, your daughter will be with her squad, she will only be allowed to speak with you approximately 10 minutes after evaluations.

  12. Other Important Stuff

  13. Doctor Notes • A PARENT note is only valid for ONE practice. • If a student needs to sit out for more than one practice, a doctor’s note MUST be submitted to the coach. Without a doctor’s note a squad member is still expected to participate in ALL activities. • Once a cheerleader is required to sit out per doctor’s note-another note is required for the cheerleader to be released. Cheerleaders will be required to sit out until a release note is provided. • You must still attend practices, even if you are injured. • We understand that cheerleaders get hurt, however, we can not guarantee a spot in a routine, stunt group, etc. if a cheerleader is sitting out due to injury.

  14. Jewelry • Per AACCA: “These rules are to be in effect for all practices, games, competitions and other performances: All jewelry is prohibited during participation (11B).”

  15. Background Checks • If you are planning to volunteer, observe, or be a member of the Booster Club you MUST complete the NISD background check. This applies to all adults over the age of 18 who will be involved with the BNHS Cheerleaders (including step-parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.). • This information is kept confidential and only shared with me if there is an issue pertaining to your involvement with our girls. • THIS IS A REQUIRED DOCUMENT • I will need a list of all persons who will be submitting a background check excluding the adults listed in Charms • This needs to be done online ASAP.

  16. Communicate, communicate, communicate • Captains, Coaches, Chambers • Texting a captain does NOT take the place of communicating with a coach • In extenuating absent circumstances, a coach must be given prior notice AND must approve of the absence being excused. Just telling a coach doesn’t mean it’s an excusedabsence. • We would rather hear from you, than from someone else • Please be cognitive of our families and other district responsibilities. It is not appropriate to text a coach about academics in their class. We are teachers in the classrooms, and coaches in the gym.

  17. Upcoming Events • Check Google Calendar • Family Picnic, Sunday, July 29 from 4-7pm/Lake Grapevine • Middle School Camps /August 8-10 • TCR Clinic-August 18
