  2. # 2 "You shall not make for yourself a carved image” Exodus 20:4-6

  3. or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.

  4. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

  5. 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

  6. The Egyptians, the Canaanites worshipped many gods; MAKING IDOLS of representation and bowing down SEEMED THE NATURAL THING TO DO…

  7. Everybody'sdoing it...

  8. 3,000 lay dead before the people are ready to listen. What does it take to get our attention? Why do men turn to idols?

  9. Men Turn to Idols because they Look for God in the Wrong Places and are Unsatisfied.

  10. Man desires a god he can see, touch, manipulate. The worship of idols brings with it - drunkenness, drugs, immorality, perversion.

  11. THE WORSHIP OF IDOLS TURNS IMMORALITY INTO A RELIGION.

  12. Men Turn to Idols because idols usurp God's Rightful Place in their Lives.

  13. Idolatry is not necessary confined to things of nature... Anything which bumps God out of His rightful place is an idol.

  14. “Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.” Turning to Idols is Symptom of SPIRITUAL DECAY!

  15. If we fail to put God in His rightful place we will begin to construct our own edifice for worship - turning to the worship of self, …does not satisfy...

  16. The Blood of Christ is the basis of our: 1. Reconciliation Eph. 2:3-11 2. Redemption Rom. 3:24-25 3. Justification Rom. 5:9 4. Sanctification Heb. 10:29 5. Victory Rev. 12:4 6. Communion Mat. 20:26-28 7. Eternal Life John 6:55-5

  17. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanses us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

  18. Influencing Men to Turn to Idols is Satan's Way of Destroying the Image of God in Mankind!

  19. God forbids the use of idols in worship!

  20. Isaiah 40:18, To whom then will you liken God? Or what likeness will you compare unto Him?

  21. SYNCRETISM: combining worship of Yahweh with elements of paganism...Immorality, idolatry and rebellion were the reason all died in the desert except Joshua and Caleb.

  22. God is Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.

  23. 1 John 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen. 1. Search for God 2. Serve God 3. Show God's presence in your life.

  24. Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
