  2. There are many excuses not to travel; No time, not enough money, fear of the unknown Letting go of those anti-travel sentiments will help you see what you have been missing

  4. Overview Cheaper while your young Experience the world and benefit To see the wonders of the world

  5. No More Discounts for 30 Years! Student Discounts: Only given to 12-26 year-olds (Crislip). A few examples: international student discount cards, 15% off Amtrak, 25% off Rail Europe train passes, etc. (Crislip). You don’t get age-based discounts until you’re a senior traveler (which aren't as good as student discounts) (Crislip).

Now is Better • According to Ed Hewitt, “It turns out that a recession is a great time to travel…” (Hewitt) • Half-Price Cheap: • “Airlines, are gutting their bottom lines with ridiculous fare sales, hotels are offering free breakfasts on top of free nights on top of discounts, and gas prices are at pre-1970's gas crisis prices (adjusted for inflation) — which is even more impressive when you note that vehicles are much more fuel-efficient today than they were 30 years ago.” (Hewitt) • Going to Italy could cost the same as traveling to Arizona (Hewitt)

  7. Experience and Benefit Living in one place for a long can lead you to believe that everyone else has the same customs and habits. Experiencing other cultures can be eye-opening (Upgrade Reality). “Travel teaches that not everyone shares your beliefs. In issues small and large – from child-rearing to politics – a traveler learns there are many ways of thinking” (Blieberg). You Will Grow As a Person: “Whoever you think you are right now and whatever you think you want from life right now will change if you travel for a long time. You will learn much about yourself and your expectations and goals in life may just change completely” (Upgrade Reality).

  8. Experience and Benefit (cont.) Your social skills will increase because of constant contact with other people.. You will become better at talking to strangers and making new friends (Upgrade Reality). You will become Street-Wise: There are always people who try to take advantage of tourists. “You will learn to spot these people and trust your judgment when something doesn’t feel right. (Upgrade Reality) “You will also find that often you can negotiate and barter with people, because local prices are often much less than tourist prices for the same items or services” (Upgrade Reality). “The more you learn, the better you’ll feel about yourself and the more fun and enriched your life will be” (Padykula). Employers like the look of time spent abroad (Crislip)
