  1. Using Floobits

  2. Sign up for Floobits • Go to floobits.com

  3. Creating a workspace • Once each member has finished creating an account, choose oneperson who will create a workspace for the group to work together. • After creating an account, select the free plan and click finish.

  4. Creating a workspace • If this workspace is for your summative name it ‘isu’. • Make sure that Edit, Request Perms, and View are all checked. • After this is done, click Create Workspace • This will open a dark browser window, keep the dark window open

  5. Joining the Workspace • Everyone open Sublime • Click: Ctrl + Shift + J • Copy the Floobits link on your browser and Paste it into the textbox that appears at the bottom of Sublime and click enter once

  6. Saving files to the right location • After you paste in the link that is on Floobits, it will ask you where you want to save the files for your workspace • Save files somewhere in your ICS20 folder on your USB • Your save location on your USB should be similar to this: • E:\[the name of your ICS20 folder]\testingFloobits • OR E:\[the name of your ICS20 folder]\assignments\inProgress • (At home your USB may not be on the E: drive so you will have to change it to the right drive)

  7. Saving files to the right location • After you enter a proper save location, this window will appear: • Make sure you always select Overwrite Local File(s). If you click overwrite remote files it delete the work other people have worked on while you were away.

  8. On Sublime • You should now be connected to Floobits and you should see files appear on the left side of Sublime

  9. Creating files to work on • Now one member in the group, right click the folder named isu,and then click New • Clicking New File will open an untitled page in Sublime. • Save this page as index.html (ctrl + s) • Save it inside the same folder • Once you save it should appear in sublime

  10. Making the files available to the whole group • Index.html will appear in your isu folder on sublime. • Right click index.html > Click Floobits > Click Add to workspace • After one member of a group has done this, everyone else in the group should be able to see index.html on their computers too. • To create more files like this repeat the previous steps. You can create both folders create FOLDERS and new TEXT FILES. However, when you make a new file, always make sure you select add to workspace. • You can also copy paste a file into the ‘isu’ folder (such as jQuery) and it will appear. Just make sure you add it to the workspace

  11. After Connecting • Makes sure you always work on the files while connected to Floobits otherwise there’s a chance work might be deleted or lost • If you don’t know how to connect to Floobits, look at this slideshow again OR click Ctrl + Alt + Shift + J to connect to a recent workspace • For the rest of the period: • Create both a .css file and a .js that are linked to your html file • Add a jQuery file to the workspace and link it to your html file • Test to make sure that everyone is seeing the new files and code being edited live (create a basic webpage and make sure the group can see/edit it). • Start working on the ISU
