U.S. History Rap. Let's move real fast. Through America's past. With heroes of old. Who were truly so bold. In May of 1492,. Columbus sailed the. ocean blue. All that were sent were very bold. They sought three things:. Glory. God. and. Gold. The English came in 1607.

  2. Let's move real fast

  3. Through America's past With heroes of old Who were truly so bold

  4. In May of 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue

  5. All that were sent were very bold. They sought three things: Glory God and Gold

  6. The English came in 1607 It was not their idea of a typical heaven.

  7. They learned independence from one John Smith And the House of Burgesses settled any tiffs.

  8. The Pilgrims followed soon after that And in 1620, wrote the Mayflower Compact.

  9. The rule of the law was a major tool-- No kings for them--they wanted self rule!

  10. Then in 1754, The French and Brithish went to war.

  11. All alone the British could not stand, So, the colonists had to lend a hand.

  12. The war was costly for the king So, the tyrant taxed his British tea. The colonists did not want to pay, They dumped his tea into Boston’s bay.

  13. After the midnight ride of Paul Revere, Americans knew troubled times were near.

  14. Lexington and Concord mark the spot I wonder who fired that very first shot?

  15. "Give me liberty or give me death!" Patrick Henry said with all of his breath.

  16. Thomas Paine wrote "Common Sense"

  17. And Jefferson declared our independence.

  18. The Treaty of Paris ended the war And in 1783 America was born.

  19. The Articles of Confederation were not so great, So, the delegates started with a brand new slate.

  20. We needed new laws and strong leadership Madison & Hamilton made the trip After much debate behind closed doors, The Constitution became our government’s core.

  21. Ratified in 1791, The Bill of Rights had just begun With amendments numbered 1-10, It protects the rights of all Americans.

  22. Louisiana was purchased in 1803, Jefferson doubled U.S. territory.

  23. Monroe had a doctrine that forced Europe away And said we would use force if they wanted to stay

  24. Jackson praised the "Common Man" And claimed Native American lands.

  25. He was a hero in the war of 1812, Spoilded friends left when the banks all failed.

  26. America now started pulling away Their cultures grew more distinct each day. The 3 regions: North, South and West Each wanted their region to get the best.

  27. Now, it's time for the Mexican War, They didn't like Texans coming in their back door. When all of it was said and done, America now stretched clear to Oregon.

  28. When gold was discovered in "48, 1000s came to get their take.

  29. Wagon trails strecthed from sea to sea, In search of our Manifest destiny.

  30. Along came Lincoln, a tall & slender man, He became the 16th president of our great land. One month after he was elected, South Carolina left and the Union dissected.

  31. The Civil War ended in 1865, An astronomical 620,000 gave their lives. What we gained from this catastrophe Were 3 amendments and the end of slavery.

  32. The story continues and remains untold So, lets smash the TAKS and let the story unfold. In part II of United States history, Women finally get their democracy.
