A little bit about our society… • Gamma Beta Phi is an honorary and service-based student organization. • All students ranking in the top 15% of their academic class are invited to join, so congratulations to everyone here tonight! • The watchwords of Gamma Beta Phi are scholarship, character, and service.

  3. Our Objectives • To recognize and encourage individual excellence in education • To promote the development of leadership and character in our members • And to foster, disseminate and improve education through appropriate service projects

  4. Requirements for Induction • You must be presently enrolled at LSU full-time. • You must have completed at least 12 hours of course work at LSU. • And lastly, as mentioned previously, you must be ranked in the top 15% of your academic class.

  5. The Induction Ceremony • Information regarding the Spring 2014 Gamma Beta Phi Induction Ceremony: • Date: Sunday, March 30, 2014 • Time: 12:30 PM • Location: Vieux Carre Room 325 in the LSU Student Union • Guests are welcome! • Attendance is not mandatory; however, being inducted into Gamma Beta Phi is a commendable honor and something you’d like to share with close friends and family. • Lastly, the dress for this event is business casual. For boys that means slacks and a button down shirt, and for girls a nice cocktail dress of appropriate length or slacks and a blouse.

  6. Membership Dues • For new members: • Local dues are $15 • National dues are $60 • Both dues can be paid online on Gamma Beta Phi’s national website. • First, visit www.gammabetaphi.org then follow these instructions: • Members  Join Now  password: gbpmember1964  select GBP15  School name: LSU – Baton Rouge & then enter all required information  select I Accept! • Membership dues are reduced to $15 for local dues and $10 for national dues ($20 total) for active members. Also, dues are only paid once per year, so you will not need to pay any dues again until Spring 2015.

  7. What happens after induction? • Beginning in the fall of 2014 (next semester), you will be required to attend meetings and participate in community service in order to maintain Active Membership in Gamma Beta Phi.

  8. Active Membership Requirements • You must: • Attend 3 meetings per semester • Attend 1 social event per semester • Attend 1 fundraising event per semester or donate $10 to Gamma Beta Phi if you are unable to attend an event • Complete 5 hours of community service each semester

  10. Last Minute Reminders • Make sure to sign in on the lap top computer at the front of the room. • I’ll be sending out an email to everyone regarding the Spring 2014 Induction Ceremony. I’ll be asking you to RSVP with the number of people planning to attend, so look out for that!
