  4. What is the Skeletal System made up of? • Bones • Cartilage • Ligaments • Joints

  5. Bone • There are 206 bones in and adult • The largest bone is the femur bone, located in the thigh. • The smallest bones are in the ear: hammer, anvil, and stirrup

  6. Ligaments • Ligaments are a connective tissue that connects bone to bone

  7. Cartilage • Cartilage is found at the end of many bones, nose, and ears. • It protects bones. • It acts like a shock absorber. • It gives shape w/ flexibility to your body.

  10. Activity 2Index Cards • Make a bone by folding the index card in one of the following ways: • Group 1: folded like a tent • Group 2: Folded in a square “tube” • Group 3: folded in a round “tube”, using short sides • Group 4: folded in a round “tube”, using the long sides.
