  2. Definition: Child Abuse Child abuse is the physical, sexual, and emotional mistreatment or neglect of a child.

  3. Statistics: Four children in the United States die each day as a result of child abuse and neglect. Nearly 80% of children die as a result of abuse are younger than five years old. In 2008, child protective services in the United States received 3.3 million reports of child abuse and neglect. Most children who suffer abuse or neglect suffer at the hands of some one they know (parent, guardian, or family friend)

  4. Examples of Child Abuse In 2003, Kaia Jackson was convicted of child abuse involving her son Jonathon over a two-year period in Tulsa Oklahoma. In 2001, Jonathon told a forensic interviewer what life was like in his house. According to court documents, Jonathon blamed his parents for beating him regularly with “big boards, extension cords, belts and cable wires.”

  5. Famous People Affected Oprah Winfrey was raped at age 9 and this continued and she became pregnant through rape in her family at age 14. She gave birth to the child but the baby died. Mo'nique who played the mother of 'Precious'' was raped and sexually abused by her own brother when she was a young girl over a period of several years. Sinead O'Connor was physically abused in her childhood. Not raped buy physically abused. Marilyn Monroe who committed suicide at age 36 in 1962 was raped when she was 14. Faye Dunaway was raped when she was in her late teens. Michael Jackson abuse through his father. Physical abuse. Actress Teri Hatcher of ''desperate housewives'' raped when she was a child Queen Latifah - sexually abused by family members when she was a child. Fran Drescherraped at gunpoint in 1985.

  6. Court Decision/ Jail time? 7 years to 11 years or more depends in how bad was the child abuse..

  7. My Point Of View That child abuse is not correct thing to do. Not to a child that is innocent and to beat them to death or making them be scared. Child abuse can be death full. Kids can grow up like that and they can live with some one that beats them..
