  2. MISSION: The mission of the Parkway School District is to ensure all students are capable, curious and confident learners who understand and respond to the challenges of an ever-changing world.

Strategic Plan Goals • Goal #4: Develop and support strong professional communities that utilize data, knowledge, experience and research to improve practice and accomplish goals. • Goal #5: Recruit, employ, develop and retain an exceptional staff dedicated to and representative of Parkway’s diverse community.

NORMS • Mission Driven Agenda • Opportunity to share, be heard and understood • Stay on topic , stay productive and be an active participant • Utilize protocols to ensure productive discussions, reach consensus and facilitate the work of the team • Demonstrate professional courtesies (start/end on time, avoid side talk) • Be nice! (positive attitudes, respect others, presume positive intent) • Be accountable to school and Professional Learning Action Team Review the Norms – What questions do you have? What should we keep? What should we delete?

The Work of Collaborative Teams • Number Off 1 and 2 • Take Your “Do Now” Card with You • 1s Form a Large Circle • 2s Find a “1” for a partner (form an “inner circle”) • Partner 1 – Share your success and listen to the success of your partner • Partner 2 – Share your challenge and listen to the challenge of your partner • Partner 3 – Share your idea and listen to the idea of your partner • Turn in your cards and return to your seat.

Collaborative Team Implementation of the Agreements • Goal: Create a guide for collaborative teams and a “look for” document for administrators. • EQ: How do we ensure the fidelity of our collaborative teams? • Objective: Generate as many ideas as possible that would indicate an “effective” team. • Next Steps: Use the document with your own team on October 2nd.

  9. Brain Storm • Five Minutes – Jot down as many ideas of evidence of effective for each of the Agreements • Post your thoughts • Divide Into Groups by Poster • Sort post-its into categories • Label your categories • Share Out

Next Steps • Observable evidence typed into document • Document sent to all PLAT members • PLAT Members use with collaborative team at the October delayed start (complete following the late start (probably not during)) • Purpose – What is really evidence of effective for the Agreements • PLAT Members decide what should stay or what should go at the October meeting based on their experience • PLAT Members determine “next steps” for the document at the October meeting
