  3. Textbook Required: Psychology and Life 1st Canadian ed (2008). Gerrig, Zimbardo, Desmerais, & Ivanco. Optional: Study Guide Supplemental: Web resources related to the text. See card inside text for login info.

  4. Lecture Materials • You are responsible for lecture material that DOES NOT appear in the text. • Presentations will be made available following the lectures. • Reading the lecture notes is NOT a substitute for attending the lectures.

  5. Evaluation • There will be six non-cumulative exams, equally weighted towards your final grade. • Exams will consist of 50 multiple choice questions (i.e. one question per minute). • Multiple choice items will have five options (A, B, C, D)

  6. Research Requirement • Everyone has to obtain six research credits. • Three options • Subject participation • Observer status • Article review • Please take the research requirement seriously!

  7. Psychology Misconceptions: • Psychologists are all therapists • Psychology isn’t a real science • All psychologists are warm fuzzy people that like to talk about dreams and subconscious desires. Facts: • Most psychologists are NOT therapists. • While psychology is an incredibly diverse field, a scientific approach to research is used whenever feasible.
