  1. Destination Guide – Krabi The Krabi Province is gaining popularity rapidly as a popular tourist destination. With miles and miles of spectacular coastline, lush, verdant interior and lots of water sports and rock climbing. One of the main attractions of Krabi is that it still is relatively untouched and still manages to retain its charm. From simple beach bungalows to opulent five-star mega-resorts, accommodation choices are wide and flexible and the area’s comparative compactness works for it in a positive way. Here are a few things you absolutely shouldn’t miss out on when you visit Krabi: 1) Railay Beaches & Caves Railay is a small peninsula that can be found between the cities of Krabi and Ao Nang. It is accessible only by boat due to high limestone cliffs cutting off mainland access. The cliffs here are popular with rock climbers from around the world. The area here is famous not only for its rock climbing spots but also thanks to its beautiful beaches and quiet relaxing atmosphere. In just one small peninsula you’ll find gorgeous white sand beaches, soaring limestone cliffs, viewpoints, caves and a lagoon hidden inside the cliffs, shaped and fed by the changing tides. All within walking distance!

  2. 2) Ko Poda Mu Ko Poda is group of four islands of which Ko Poda is the largest in its diameter. Covered with palm and pine trees and almost entirely encircled by a soft white sand beach, it is every inch the stunning tropical getaway. The irresistible combination of excellent snorkelling, scenery and soft sand make the island a popular choice with snorkelers and sea kayakers, but surprisingly, it’s not that crowded. 3) The Emerald Pool

  3. Located in the Khao Pra-Bang Kram area, the nature trek is a superb place to spot rare animals and plant species including the Pitta Gurney bird which was once considered extinct. The forest is lush with age-old trees stretching up to the sky, unusual forest creatures and limestone foothills that open onto a dazzling emerald pool. The Emerald pool lies about 800 metres inside the Wild Life sanctuary and can be approached through a well-trodden forest path, some could also follow the longer nature trail that winds all through the spectacular tropical rain forest. 4) Ko Hong

  4. Consisting of about a dozen island which are mostly so tiny that they don’t have beaches of their own, the Ko Hong archipelago is a mix of both tiny as well as beautiful wide island with lovely clear beaches. However, things rarely get crowded here as there’s so much to do. What puts Ko Hong on top of many visitors’ itineraries is its spectacular rock formation and its breath taking natural lagoon surrounding by majestic limestone formations. 5) Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave)

  5. Wat Tham Sua is a Buddhist temple northeast of Krabi, Thailand. Well known for the tiger paw prints in the cave, tall Buddha statues and the strenuous flight of stairs to reach the summit, this is one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the province. Those who make it to the top are compensated with panoramic 360 degree views of the amazing Andaman Sea, tropical islands, dramatic limestone cliff formations, verdant rainforests and ‘the Buddha’s footprint’. 6) Phi Phi Islands

  6. The Phi Phi Island is just a minute’s boat rode from Phuket. It is the ultimate peaceful getaway for all tourists. To explore the Phi Phi islands further visit our destination guide to Phi Phi Islands 7) Klong Thom Hot Springs

  7. In the south of Krabi province in Klong Thom district (around 70km from town and near the Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve), are nature’s own hot-tub jacuzzis, known as (nam tok rawn) in Thai. Located in the jungle, this site features naturally hollowed-out ‘bathtubs’ in the smooth stone, filled to the brim with fresh running spring water at a pleasant 35-42C. There is also a cool river below where you could take a refreshing cool dip. Situated in the same reserve as the Emerald Pool and Thung Teao Forest Natural Park, it’s worth taking the time to combine all of these wonderful eco-spots in one nature filled day. 8) Ko Tup & Ko Mor

  8. Ko Tup and Ko Mor are two islands located in the Krabi archipelago and they are accessible to each other just by walking across a sandbar. The waters are almost crystal blue, which offers great photo- taking opportunities as well as snorkelling. You could also walk to another neighbouring island called Ko Kai or the Chicken Island that is located about 500m (1640 feet) away. You can also hike to Ko Tup’s summit where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the islands located around the area. 9) Krabi Town

  9. The town is laid back and very provincial. Krabi has attracted tourists in the recent years but it’s still not buzzing with people. Its unique personality is a welcome contrast to the other beaches that are astoundingly crowded. For all the people who are genuinely interested in knowing the Thai culture and hospitality, staying in Krabi can turn out to be a rewarding experience. 10) Au Luk Mangroves

  10. Explore the sea caves of Ao Luk on a kayak tour led by an experienced guide. Paddle around lagoons and mangrove stands to caverns such as Tham Phee Hua Toh, decorated with stalactites and prehistoric paintings. Between kayak explorations, enjoy a Thai lunch in Bor Thor village, and later stop for a swim and snack in the crystalline stream of Tha Pom.
