  1. Scientific Method In order to ask a question about the world around you, scientists need to get information. An organized plan for gathering and organizing this information is called the Scientific Method.

  2. What are some questions you have?Where does hail come from?

Make an observation and state a problem or question that is testable • Develop a hypothesis to answer your question or problem • Design an experiment and plan how this will test your hypothesis • Organize your results and create graphs and data tables to help • Draw up a conclusion, analyze your data and state if your hypothesis is correct or not. • Retest your hypothesis Steps of the Scientific Method

  4. A Real Life Situationusing the scientific method The scientific method can also be used to solve many problems that you may have or to find out a question that you might want to inquire about.

  5. Write this down in your Journal and keep trackExamples: To find a date for the dance on Friday night To quit eating chocolate To quit smoking To get an A in Science To get a girlfriend or boyfriend by the end of the semester

Scientific Method Example • Question- Write in your question • Hypothesis- remember to use an if, then, and because statement • Experiment- Tell us about what you will do • Results- This can be in graph form, tables, statements • Conclusion- Repeat what your question was and your hypothesis, along with explaining what you learned from this experiment. Did your hypothesis match? • Retest How can I find a date for the homecoming dance next month? LETS DO THIS ONE TOGETHER!!!!!!!!
