Year 9 Geography The topic you will study are: • Earthquakes and volcanoes • Population and migration • Development • Brazil • Ecosystems • The geography of sport Each of these topics should take ½ a term and you will receive an assessment on each topic. You will also receive homework about once every two weeks

  2. Autumn term 1st ½ - Earthquakes and volcanoes Why do earthquakes and volcanoes occur? What effects do they have on the people who live near them? Why do people live near them? All question you will find the answers to in this unit!

  3. Autumn term 2nd ½ – Population and migration People people everywhere, but why? You are about to find out!

  4. Spring term 1st ½ - Development Have you ever stopped to wonder why some countries are full of people with i-pods and other countries are full of people who can’t afford to turn a light on? Well in this unit we hope to shed some light on this question.

  5. Spring term 2nd ½ – Brazil Brazil is a truly fascinating that showcases much of human and physical geography. It this unit we will share the geography of Brazil with you!

  6. Summer term 1st ½ - Ecosystems There are many different ecosystems around the world, in this unit we will try to scratch the surface of ecosystems.

  7. Summer term 2nd ½ - The geography of sport This unlikely pair are actually closely linked. Decisions like the location of a new stadium are not made without geography. In this unit you should learn about all the links between geography and sport.
