Moments of Truth are those moments when we get first hand data on the benefits and costs. • I arrive at my Club meeting – how am I greeted? • I observe how the meeting is run • I notice if I am eager to leave or feel like persistent for some conversations • I reflect on how much of my day I spent between leaving for the meeting until I get back to work • I notice if I had a helpful conversation with anyone • I think about what I will say when my spouse asks who was our speaker

  15. “Moments of Truth” have been identified • Every contact, email, handshake with a leader, and speaker is a moment of truth that shapes the member’s perception of his or her benefits and costs of being a Rotarian.

  24. ONCE AN ANGEL WENT UP TO GOD AND SAID “HOW CAN I DRIVE AWAY THE DARKNESS OF SUFFERING FROM THE WORLD?”

  25. GOD SMILED GENTLY AND GAVE FIVE CANDLES TO THE ANGEL. THE ANGEL TOOK OUT ONE CANDLE AT A TIME.

  26. THE FIRST CANDLE SAID: I am the ability to inspire others in shared vision -I represent LEADERSHIP However, I can not fight with this gloom alone

  27. THE SECOND ONE STATED: I am the act of stretching out a hand in darkness and pulling another hand into the light -I represent SERVICE Yet I cannot keep the world lit forever

  28. THE THIRD CANDLE SPOKE IN ITS TURN: I am the art of thinking independently.....together -I represent DIVERSITY In today’s world divided by intolerance, I do not have the strength to stay lit alone.

  29. THE FOURTH CANDLE SUDDENLY CHIMED IN : I am the ideal of team work.....coming together, sharing together, working together, succeeding together -I represent FELLOWSHIP I have doubts whether I can penetrate the darkness of misery in this world.

  30. THEN THE FIFTH CANDLE SAID: I am the state of heart, mind and deed becoming one in truth. -I represent INTEGRITY I am afraid my flame will be blown out by the wind of deceit from down below

  31. THE ANGEL WAS QUIET FOR SOMETIME.....THINKING WHICH CANDLE TO USE SUDDENLY WITH SHINING EYES IT LIT ALL THE CANDLES TOGETHER AND IN THEIR COMBINED GLOW THE WORLD WAS BATHED IN THE WARMTH OF PEACE, CONTENTMENT AND HAPPINESS
