  3. Goals of Foreign Language Classes • Pronounce target language words • Learn new vocabulary every day • Communicate in short phrases and write simple sentences • Learn basic grammar • Read basic passages in Spanish • Discover culture of target language countries

  4. Grading Policy • 60% Major Grades • 30% Minor Grades • 10% Homework

  5. Grades • Major Grades: Tests and projects • Minor Grades: Quizzes, oral activities, and in-class assignment • Homework: Homework

  6. Required Materials • Binder • Dividers • Wolf Tracker Planner • Pocket Folder (w/ or w/out brads) according to designated color for class period • 3 x 5 Index Cards

  7. Homework Procedure • Student is expected to practice minimum 15 minutes daily. • Homework will be accepted per the following policy: 1 day late: 75 2 days late: 50

  8. Test Days • Major Test Days: Tuesday & Friday • Quizzes: Administered any day of the week

  9. Retest Procedures • Student will be permitted a reasonable opportunity to redo or retake any failed major grade (excluding midterms and final exams). • Prior notification will be given for retesting dates. Retests will be administered before and after school within 1 week of receiving original results, unless an alternate time is arranged with the teacher by the student. • Extra credit will not be given to elevate a student’s grade.

  10. Absences • It is student’s responsibility to complete the work missed within the allotted time. • Students will be given the same amount of days that he/she was absent to complete the missed assignments. • Tests and quizzes will need to be taken before or after school by appointment. If parents/students are aware of a future absence, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can be better prepared to assist you. • Due to this being a high school credit course, students with excessive unexcused absences may be in jeopardy of losing credit.

  11. Tutoring • Monday Afternoon 4:15-4:45 p.m. with Sra. Davis • Friday Morning 8:15-8:40 a.m. with Sra. Beck • By appointment
