  5. Books on the same subject have the same subject number. Animals 590 Sports 796 Car, Boats, and Planes 629

  6. 590 Animals 629 Cars, planes… 796 Sports Books are placed on the shelves in number order. SO….books on the same subject are together on the shelf !! If you find one book about animals in the 590’s, you have found all the animal books in the library.

  7. 590 - ANIMALS 597 - Snakes 598 - Birds 599 - Mammals Non-Fiction Town 599 OSB The top line is the subject number. The bottom line is the first 3 letters of the author’s last name. If the top line is a number, the book is in the non-fiction section (town) of the media center. Once in the non-fiction section, use the location signs to find the shelf the subject number is on.
