The Shri Ram School - Profile

The Shri Ram Schools were born out of the ideology that children must be given an environment that makes them want to come to school every day. School is progressive, secular, child centred, co-educational private schools, committed to providing quality education for all their students. The philosophy rests on the interpretation of ‘education’ as drawing forth – drawing forth what already exists. For more follow the link: http://www.tsrs.org/

Ms. Saheli Roy saheli.roy@tsrs.org ACCREDITATION: We are accredited to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The medium of instruction for all subjects, except Second language, is English, from Nursery to Grade XII. Given the diversity of Regional languages in India, we support students in case they want to pursue their Mother tongue. We are an inclusive, child-centred and a progressive school, respecting differences in all children as individuals. For children with special needs, the Special Needs Department works towards the main objective of integrating children in the mainstream whenever possible. It also provides an adapted or functional curriculum according to the needs of the student. ICSE/ISC: The CISCE conducts two national examinations, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE Year X) and the Indian School Certificate (ISC Year XII). From Grade VI to VIII, the curriculum lays strong and equal emphasis on all academic subjects as well as other essential components such as Library, Art, Performing Arts, Physical Education, Robotics and Yoga. In Grade IX and X students choose subjects from three groups: Group I (mandatory) – English (Language and Literature), Second language (Choice of one from - Hindi, Sanskrit, Spanish, French), History, Civics & Geography. Group II– Mathematics or Commercial Studies, Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) or Environmental Studies. Group III– any one from among Computer Applications, Economic Applications, Commercial Applications, Art, Performing Arts (Choice of one from Indian dance, Drama), Home Science, Physical Education, Environmental Applications, Technical Drawing Applications. In Grade XI and XII English (Language and Literature) is compulsory. Additionally, students choose four subjects from an array: Elective English, History, Political Science, Geography, Sociology, Psychology, Economics, Commerce, Accounts, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Geometrical and Mechanical Drawing. Apart from academics, Grades IX - XII are exposed regularly to Physical Education, Performing Arts and a host of co-curricular activities. All students in Grades X and XII, regardless of the subjects chosen, have to fulfil the Socially Useful ProductiveWork (SUPW) grade to obtain a pass certificate. The nature of this programme may involve field trips and community service, which are organised by the school. (For syllabus details please log on to: http://www.cisce.org ).
