  11. Short term • MPLS-VPN to enable single IP edge device for all IP services • no more routers dedicated to a particular service • National, international, bundled Internet, IP-VPNs and transparent LAN

  12. Short Term • VLAN trunking over MPLS • point to point LAN transport over the MPLS core • implement service on same edge device and as IP services

  13. Long Term • ATM over MPLS • ATM and IP over a single MPLS core network may reduce costs • Implementations of ATMoMPLS under active study • expect QoS and network management challenges

  14. Long Term • Voice • packetised voice over IP or (maybe) directly MPLS • significant challenges in providing an IP/MPLS network with voice grade availability
