Graduate Studies Overview • KFUPM ranked the 1st in Arab World and the 338th over universities in the world (TimesQS) • KFUPM has 28 MS and 9 PhD programs • Research is supported by: • Deanship of Scientific Research • Research Institute • Four Centers of Research Excellence • KACST funds for faculty and graduate students 10/22/2019 3:34:59 AM 3

  4. Graduate Studies Overview • The Deanship of Graduate Studies was established in 1972. • It was the first Graduate College in Saudi Arabia and in Gulf Arabian States. • The University was the first institution in Saudi Arabia to introduce Ph.D. programs in engineering in 1984

  5. Strategic Roadmap • Vision: • To enable KFUPM be a leader in the region in providing quality graduate programs in Science, Engineering and Management • Goals: I. Enhance the research environment at KFUPM. II. Increase knowledge dissemination. III. Improve quality and efficiency of the graduate programs. IV. Increase quality and diversity in graduate student body. V. Increase the efficiency of the Deanship of Graduate Studies.

Features of MS Programs at KFUPM • Excellent coursework and programs • Equivalent to excellent international universities. • MS Thesis research usually results in quality publications • These publications helps you to: • Improve your chances of admission at top universities. • Get trained well by KFUPM faculty – devote time to you. • Start PhD research easily given your experience at KFUPM. • This is not available in students who go directly outside. • Diverse student body from many countries around the world • Gain experience and communication skills

  14. Admission Requirements for MS Programs • B.S. Degree. • A GPA of 3.00 or higher on a scale of 4.00. • Three letters of recommendation from the faculty who taught you. • Completion of TOEFL with a minimum score for MS admission of 68 (IBT). IELTS is also accepted with a minimum score of 5.5. • TOEFL is waived if your GPA in ENGL 101, 102 and 214 > 3.00. • Satisfactorily meeting any additional departmental or university admission requirements.
