In this session, we will explore various units used to measure time, including seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. Additionally, we will discuss the element of the day, Xenon (Xe), which is a noble gas known for its ability to form compounds under certain conditions. Passing high-voltage electricity through xenon produces a distinct violet glow, and it is utilized in specific incandescent light bulbs for their enhanced brightness and heat retention. Join us as we dive into these fascinating topics!

Warm up 02-06-14 • Question: Name some units for time. • Answer: • seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, etc • Goal: I will learn several ways to measure time.
ELEMENT OF THE DAY • 54 – Xenon – Xe • Xenon is one of the only noble gases that can be made to form compounds. Passing high voltage electricity through xenon gives it a violet glow. • Xenon is used in certain incandescent light bulbs to let them burn brighter and hotter because xenon has very low thermal conductivity - For example in the bulbs of IMAX projectors, and those annoyingly bright headlights.
