  1. Warm up 02-20-14 • Question: What does a negative slope on a position vs. time graph tell you? • Answer: • The object is moving toward the origin. • Goal: I will practice creating & interpreting graphs.

Element of the day • 62 – Samarium – Sm • Samarium is named after Russian VasiliSamarsky-Bykhovets, and is one of only two elements named after someone who was still alive when it was named, although unlike Seaborgium, Samarium was not named to honor him, but was named because he had named a mineral also named after himself that contained samarium. • Samarium-cobalt magnets can operate at high temperatures where other magnets would lose their magnetism, and they are used in high end guitar pickups.
