Our Vision: The Monarch Way • The policies, programs, and practices of Meridian Middle School reflect its commitment to helping all students build the skills they need to live a fulfilling life that is productive, healthy, and happy. • We envision ourselves as a high-performing team of professionals who work together to meet the needs of every student every day. • The success of every student is the collective responsibility of every adult in the school, every parent in the home, and every student in the classroom. Areas of Focus for 2014-15 • Continue teaching to Common Core State Standards in Literacy and Math (for new tests this Spring!) • Intensive focus on teaching strategies designed to engage all students in standards-based grade level rigorous work. • Using regular assessment cycles to drive instruction • Working as collaborative teams of professionals, parents, and students

Skyward Family Access • CRITICAL tool for keeping on top of your student’s grades, attendance, and what’s going on at Meridian • Please make sure your email address is accurate! • Can use the system to schedule automatic progress reports, missing assignment alerts, and attendance notifications • Mobile app for both Android and Apple • Tips, logins, and passwords are in your 6th period info packets

Student-Led Conferences WHEN? • Tuesday, November 25, 1:00-4:20, 5:20-6:40 WHAT? • A blend of your child’s presentation and an opportunity for you to touch base with each of your child’s teachers WHY? • Student goal setting and self-monitoring of progress is a high yield instructional strategy---it’s their learning!

  13. Career Day! • Tuesday, January 27, 8:35-11:35am • Partnership with the Kent Chamber of Commerce • New College and Career Awareness curriculum will help student choose speakers • They will review their plan with you during SLCs.
