  1. Start at the Student Portal! Step 1: Go to www.sfsu.edu and select the Login icon in the top right corner to login to your Student Portal Step 2: Select SF State Gateway / MySFSU and login using your SF State ID Step 3: Under Future Students select Application Status and then click on your Student Center

  2. Welcome to the Student Center Early Start Hold Step 4: Under Admissions select Early Start

  3. This is the “Smart Page” Step 5: See if Early Start English and Math are “required,” “suggested,” or “not required” for you. Remember: Pathway/Category 2 students are NOT required to take Early Start Pathway/Category 3 students are encouraged to take Early Start, but not required Pathway/Category 4 students are required to take Early Start Step 6: If you are required to take either English or Math Early Start, make sure that the School is San Francisco State All incoming SF State students should complete Early Start with SF State if possible!

Confirm Your Early Start Selection Step 7: At the bottom of the page the Financial Aid Information section will tell you whether: You will need to pay for your Early Start class(es), or You have a fee waiver and will not need to pay for the class(es) *Note: If required, you will not pay for the class(es) until after you officially enroll Step 8: Once you have double checked that the information on this page is correct, click Confirm Early Start Selection(s) at the bottom of the page *Note: ”Confirming” does not mean you have officially enrolled

  5. Confirm Your Early Start Selection You Have Completed the First Step! You have now CONFIRMED your Early Start selection(s). Next step is to ENROLL in Early Start (see next page!).

  8. Enrolling in Early Start Step 1: Regularly check your SF State email. You will receive instructions on how to enroll in and pay for your Early Start class(es). Step 2: After you receive an email confirming your Early Start selection, log back into your Student Center through your Student Portal (see slide 1).

  9. Enrolling in Early Start Step 3: You should now see an “Enroll in Early Start” link under Academics. Click on this link.

  10. Enrolling in Early Start Step 4: Choose Summer 2018 for the term and click Continue. Step 5: Click on search to look up your Early Start class(es).

  11. Enrolling in Early Start Step 6: Use the drop down menus to search for the information below. Session: Early Start Program Subject: Early Start Math or Early Start English Course Number: 40, 70, or 99

  12. Enrolling in Early Start Step 7: Search Results Page Click “Select” to confirm you course selection

  13. Enrolling in Early Start Step 8: Select classes to add Click “next” to re-confirm you course selection

  14. Enrolling in Early Start Step 7: After you search for your Early Start class(es), click on the course and it will be added to your shopping cart. Click on Proceed to Step 2 of 3.

  15. Enrolling in Early Start Step 8: Review your course choice one last time, then click on Finish Enrolling. Step 9: Confirmed. You will see a “green check” if enrollment worked. You will see a red X if it didn’t. Contact develops@sfsu.edu with questions.
