Proposal for D2D Synchronization in UE Out-of-Coverage Scenarios

This proposal outlines a method for Device-to-Device (D2D) synchronization when a User Equipment (UE) is out of coverage. It suggests that when a UE detects a D2D Synchronization Source (D2DSS) within a D2D mesh network, it has the option to select this D2DSS as its timing reference for transmissions. If chosen, the UE will use the D2DSS as its timing reference. Conversely, if the D2DSS is not selected, the UE will transmit using an alternative D2D Synchronization Source if it becomes available. This approach aims to enhance synchronization reliability in challenging coverage situations.

  1. Proposal for D2D synchronization • When UE is out of coverage and detected a D2DSS in D2DSSue_net, • If the UE selects the detected D2DSS in D2DSSue_net as the timing reference for its transmissions, it transmits the same D2DSS as its timing reference if it becomes a D2D synchronization source. • If the UE does not select the detected D2DSS in D2DSSue_net as the timing reference for its transmissions, it transmits a D2DSS in D2DSS_ue_oon if it becomes a D2D synchronization source.
