Why was the cotton gin invented? • The cotton gin was invented to solve the problem of the slow process of removing a seed from the cotton fibers. • This helped to lower the price and raise the demand of cotton. • It became an crucial part of the Southern economy. • In one hour, the cotton gin produced as much cotton as 100 slaves in one day.

  5. How does a cotton gin work? • A cotton gin, in simple terms, operates by turning the crank on the side of the gin. • By doing this, the cotton fibers and seeds are separated.
