Escapism • In the Depression, people tried to escape their problems through entertainment • People did not want to see anything serious or depressing – their lives were depressing enough! • Therefore, the entertainment of the 1930s was bigger, louder, more colorful and more fun than the entertainment of the 20s • Also, people became obsessed with the latest fads and spend their last dollars in search of the newest trend
