Aircraft Registrations • Canadian Registered Aircraft -Five letters of which last 4 are registration -First letter ‘C’ is the nationality marking, not the registration – Advise you are “Canadian aircraft” in foreign airspace – not needed when in Canada -Say last four letters in phonetics -After initial contact, use last three letters of registration (if initiated by ATC) • MEDEVAC - Medical evacuation • HEAVY - Aircraft over 300,000 lbs

How to Communicate • Identify who you are calling • Say your aircraft type • Say your aircraft registration (phonetics) Wait for a response • Say your position • Say your altitude • Say your intentions • Say your transponder code (if required) • Say that you have the appropriate ATIS • Give any other appropriate information WHO WHERE WHAT YOU WANT

  12. ATC Clearance • If accepted by the pilot, you must comply • If unable to comply, the pilot must inform ATC as soon as possible ATC Instruction • The pilot must comply, unless the safety of the aircraft is jeopardized
